om man ser till hur FD swsoft har hanterat de andra kontrollpanelers utveckling och support efter att de köpt dem så bådar det ju inte gott för antalet timmar som kommer läggas för att utveckla cpanel och direct admin funktioner i modernbill.

jag funderade på att skaffa modernbill men...
jag fortsätter nog att använda det egenutvecklade systemet ett tag till.
Jag använder inte plesk, jag kommer inte använda plesk på egna servrar, jag kommer inte rekommendera att en kund tar plesk på sin server om de inte vet att det är just PLESK de vill ha..

vi får se vad som händer. men jag tänker inte investera tid och pengar i ett bra modernbill upplägg när jag inte vet hur framtiden kommer vara med de andra kontrollpaneler som finns på både mina och kunders servrar.
Jag vill kunna säga till en kund som har tex directadmin att han kan använda samma system som vi använder.
det ser ju inte bra ut om jag antingen inte säger sanning och är ärlig angående vad jag själv använder och vad jag rekommenderar..
just ärlighet, raka rör, sanning.. är genomsyrande och en väldigt stor del i mitt "varumärke" gentemot de kunder och kontakter jag har.

Jag tror att jag inte är ensam om att både vara orolig, att kanske till och med planera ett byte av billing/automation system iväg ifrån modernbill.
Modernbill kommer nog få en boost i början av de som skaffar plesk med modernbill.
Men sen kommer det nog bli fler som skippar att skaffa modernbill.
Vet inte ifall just parralells i helhet kommer tjäna på det ett tag framöver.
fler som skaffar en server för att leka webhost kanske tar "plesk with modernbill bundle" för enkelhetens skull..
fler jämfört med förlorade modernbill (standalone) licenser som använder cpanel.

RENTON, Wash., March 27, 2008 - Parallels today announced it has acquired ModernGigabyte, LLC, maker of ModernBill automated billing system and other hosting automation solutions. ModernBill customers will benefit from Parallels Open Platform initiatives such as the Application Packaging Standard (APS), which will help them drive more revenue from their existing clients.

The acquisition provides Parallels with a complete hosting control panel and billing system for small-to-medium-sized service providers and hosting resellers who purchase dedicated servers with pre-loaded software. Now, service providers can integrate with over 15 popular control panels supported by ModernBill as well as special bundled offerings with the Parallels Plesk Control Panel.

ModernGigabyte is based in Louisville, Kentucky and provides software to nearly 15,000 hosting resellers with over 2 million customers worldwide.

"Parallels' acquisition of ModernGigabyte gives service providers a competitive edge by providing a complete hosting solution that integrates back-office software with Parallels control panels," said Serguei Beloussov, CEO of Parallels. In addition to the ModernBill software, Parallels is acquiring - and will continue to support - ModernGigabyte's other hosting solutions including ModernAuthorize, SSL Factory, ModernDNS and FraudGuardian.

ModernBill will be renamed Parallels Plesk Billing and join the Plesk Products system, which includes the Parallels Plesk Control Panel, Parallels Plesk Expand, Parallels Plesk Plus and Parallels Plesk Sitebuilder.

The acquisition builds Parallels' portfolio of automation software, which has grown in recent months through its acquisitions of Helm, Sphera, Positive Software and Ensim Pro.

Financial details of the transaction were not disclosed. Both companies are privately held.
